Welcoming Our New and Returning Board Members

Strengthening Our Foundation for the Journey Ahead

At The Broken Movement Trust | Te Pou Awatea, we believe that strong leadership creates strong communities. As our organisation continues to grow and expand its impact across mental health, trauma recovery, social services, and community development, we are delighted to welcome new members to our Board of Trustees while also celebrating the return of familiar and respected leaders.

Welcoming Back – Eileen Wolland

We are honoured to welcome back Eileen Wolland who takes up the Senior Leader role as Chairperson of The Broken Movement Trust.

Eileen brings a wealth of governance experience, wisdom, and a deep commitment to community wellbeing. Having previously served on our Board, her return provides both continuity and stability as we navigate the next phase of our organisational journey.

Her leadership style reflects the values that underpin our work – integrity, compassion, accountability, and a genuine commitment to empowering people and communities to thrive. As Chairperson, Eileen will play a pivotal role in guiding our strategic direction and ensuring we remain focused on our mission of supporting healing, recovery, and transformation.

We are grateful to have her leadership and experience helping to steer Te Pou Awatea into the future.

Honouring Founding Trustee Diane Pengelly

We are equally pleased to acknowledge the ongoing contribution of founding trustee, Diane Pengelly.

Since the very beginning of The Broken Movement Trust, Diane has been instrumental in helping shape the vision, values, and purpose that continue to guide our organisation today. Her dedication, perseverance, and belief in the importance of creating pathways for healing and hope have left a lasting legacy within our Trust.

Founding an organisation is never easy. It requires courage, commitment, and an unwavering belief that positive change is possible. Diane’s contribution has helped build the foundation upon which our services, programmes, and community impact now stand.

We thank Diane for her continued support, guidance, and commitment to the kaupapa of Te Pou Awatea.

Welcoming Kelly Sanders to Governance

We are delighted to welcome Kelly Sanders to the Board of Trustees. Kelly brings a strong foundation of organisational knowledge, having served within the operational environment of The Broken Movement Trust in finance and administration. Her understanding of the Trust’s day-to-day functions, systems, and accountability requirements provides valuable insight as she transitions into a governance role. Kelly’s attention to detail, commitment to sound financial stewardship, and dedication to our kaupapa make her a valuable addition to the Board. Her appointment reflects the importance of developing leadership from within our organisation and ensuring that operational experience helps inform strategic decision-making at the governance level.

Looking Forward

The year ahead presents exciting opportunities for The Broken Movement Trust. From expanding our trauma recovery programmes and mental health services to growing our social enterprise initiatives and strengthening community partnerships, we are entering a significant period of development.

With the guidance of our Board, the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and the support of our communities, we remain committed to walking alongside those seeking hope, healing, and transformation.

Please join us in welcoming our new trustees, congratulating Eileen Wolland on her appointment as Chairperson, and acknowledging the enduring contribution of founding trustee Diane Pengelly, and our newest member of the whānau, Kelly Sanders.

Together, we continue building pathways from brokenness to wellbeing, from adversity to hope, and from surviving to thriving.
