Wānanga Pūkōrero is the trauma recovery and healing arm of Te Pou Awatea – The Broken Movement Trust. We exist for those who are ready to stop circling their pain and instead turn toward it — safely, deliberately, and with support.

Grounded in wānanga-based practice, lived experience, and mātauranga Māori, Wānanga Pūkōrero creates intentional spaces where trauma is not rushed, minimised, or pathologised. Instead, it is called forward, allowed to surface, and worked with in ways that restore dignity, self-agency, and inner authority.

Our wānanga are not therapy sessions or seminars. They are containers — held environments where men and women can speak what has been carried in silence, reflect honestly on lived experience, and begin integrating the impacts of trauma into conscious, self-directed pathways forward.

He Ara Hou is the social service arm of Te Pou Awatea – The Broken Movement Trust. Its focus is simple and deliberate: to walk alongside rangatahi and whānau as they navigate complex social challenges and find a new path forward.

He Ara Hou works in the real spaces where life is often hardest — at home, in schools, within communities, and during transitions into independence. We recognise that social challenges rarely exist in isolation. They are shaped by environment, relationships, systems, and circumstance. Our mahi is to bring steadiness, clarity, and practical support into those spaces.

Rather than fixing or directing, He Ara Hou supports rangatahi and whānau to strengthen their own capacity, confidence, and decision-making. Through consistent presence, trusted relationships, and wraparound support, we help restore hope, stability, and direction.
